The way there, plus arrival
There was a moment of hesitation as to whether I should partake in the 7 and 8 am classes consecutively. However, I opted for a full self-led session. Despite the lack of space, I seem to have developed enough ease with the environment to stay focused on my own drills and even to design them on the spot. The preliminary session consisted primarily of:
Ring dips (triceps-targeted)
Non-banded butterfly attempts, at least getting into the rhythm
The usual T2bs, banded pull-ups
My Mountain for ~80 sec each time, set to 25 (elevation) paced at 5.5.
Classic Sweat vs. Boost sessions
The deal with deadlifts was that it looked too weight-intense, relative to the nicely compound mixture of bodyweighted moves offered by the Sweat program. Needless to say, I aced every one of the 6 rounds; surprisingly, I even in the high rep range that reached 70, didn’t feel out of breath.
Post-group WOD (8 am), I did a brief self-session — a back-to-back with the latter being considerably milder. The de facto highlight was of me doing 30 lb-(DB) snatches for the first time, quite steadily for higher reps than I’d imagined myself capable of.
Halfway touchpoint
A review of Gymtown, since I’m only slated for a single session this week — unlike the previous one or two weeks wherein I attended 2-3 per week.
The compound or singular nature of musculature effects the intensity felt at exertion.
Body angle matters, i.e. even the upper body’s while exerting the lower.
Hips are so, so central to athletic performance.
More on morning vs. eveningtime
Seeing the infrequency that I’d been able to get myself to Bysec Fitness gym in the past couple business days, evenings are definitely harder to set myself up for. (Granted, this may purely be on account of me being a morning person.) In terms of power, I used to think that morning times disadvantage me — with somewhat credible science to back up the general claim. Glad to report, though, that I no longer necessarily feel as such. Perhaps this is a case of my body adjusting to power exertion in that particular hour of the day?
Wed, Jun 12 (D-Copy SSO)
After this group class — partner WOD —, I did a personal training session for back/chest. After T-bar rows and pull-ups, 4 rounds each, the finisher WOD involved 4 rounds of 12kcal-rows followed by farmers’ carry (20kg-KBs): a 2 min-on and 2min-off WOD.
Getting the posture right for the last move made a whole lot of difference. The particular taxation even felt nice in a refreshing way!
